Emmy Look- Kerry Washington

22 Sep

The 2011 Emmy Awards show brought out all the stars. The red carpet was covered in celebs from the small screen wearing some of the most amazing designer dresses and sporting enviable makeup.  Hollywood glamor was on display, but no look struck us quite like Kerry Washington’s. Playing off old Hollywood with a modern flair, her sparkly, Zuhair Murad dress fit her like a glove and matched her red pout perfectly. We loved this look so much we had to recreate it. It’s the perfect look for a night out or an evening wedding.

Step 1) Apply a green based concealer to counteract redness. Using a foundation brush, even out skin by applying a tinted moisturizer; we like Laura Mercier.

Step 2) Using a large brush, apply a pressed powder to set makeup and alleviate shine. We like Pur Minerals Pressed Powder.

Step 3) To add a sun-kissed effect, blend bronzer into cheeks, nose, forehead, and wherever the sun naturally touches. We like Bobbi Browns Natural Bronzing Powder.

Step 1) To keep your eye shadow in place, use a primer like like Smashbox Photo Finish Lip Primer. Apply a matte nude eye shadow over the entire lid.

Step 2) Use illuminating powder along the brow bone and apply a light silver shadow over the entire eyelid, blending a taupe color along the crease. We used Mark Glowdacious Illuminating Powder.

Step 3) Line the top lash line with black gel eyeliner and apply white pencil eyeliner along the inner waterline. We used NYX White Eyeliner Pencil.

Step 4) Apply false eye lashes to the upper lash line, and let dry. Next apply a coat of black mascara. We used Sephora brand Lash Plumper.

Lips and Cheeks

Step 5) Lightly brush a matte plum-colored blush to the apples of your cheeks.

Step 6) Highlight the contour of the cheeks with illuminating powder. We used Mark Glowdacious Illuminating Powder.

Step 7) Fill in your lips with a red lip pencil. We used Gorgeous Cosmetics lip pencil. This will help keep your color in place.

Step 8) Cover lips with a red lipstick with a pink undertone. We used Gorgeous Cosmetics Lip stick in Angel.
