Royal Wedding

29 Apr

The olfactory plays a big part in memory, and a single scent can connect you to an important moment in your life, like your wedding, the moment that was the beginning of your happily ever after. And speaking of scents and memories, and of course weddings, we would like to honor Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding by taking a look at past and present royalty, and the fragrances they wore.

Although the Royal Family hadn’t confirmed the purported fragrances for Kate and Will’s wedding, Hamburg perfumer Kim Weisswange revealed, “William’s is a dynamic scent, sporty and direct.” Fragrance and Beauty Expert Jan Moran dishes about the Prince’s fragrance, “For him, this fragrance sounds fresh and charismatic; also an excellent choice for a future king.”

Kate’s fragrance reportedly had traces of rose essence and magnolia. In regards to these highly feminine notes, Moran says, “Rose and Magnolia are classic bridal bouquet flowers; this perfume is a lovely accent to their spring wedding.” The fragrances, aptly named William and Catherine, will be in production in the coming months.

Diana, Princess of Wales, was known for her impeccable taste and trend-setting style, so it’s no surprise that when she married Prince Charles she decided to ditch the old school scents and go with the ultra modern Hermes 24, Faubourg. Unlike the classic floral scents typically worn by the grandiose ladies before her, Di’s fragrance captured the feminine floral essence while adding romantic woody undertones. Hermès calls it “a romantic saga, rich and refined…the expression of a sunny and generous personality.” Scentsa’s own fragrance expert Jan Moran autographed a copy of her first book, Fabulous Fragrances, for Princess Diana, so we’re pretty sure Princess Di knew a thing or two about what she liked in a perfume.

When Prince Rainier of Monaco married the beautiful Grace Kelly, she had no idea that her perfume would start a trend as a popular wedding fragrance, but that’s exactly what she did. Created for her wedding day, Fleurissimo by Creed is a subtly intoxicating bouquet of delicate flowers including rose, tuberose, and ylang-ylang. Feminine and beguiling, versatile and easy to wear, the pedigreed scent exudes privilege, wealth, and a world of infinite possibilities. Fleurissimo is a majestic scent, once worn exclusively by a legendary woman of international acclaim.

What fragrance did you wear on your wedding day? Not married, what is your ideal wedding fragrance? Leave a comment and let us know!
