Cirque du Spring

29 Mar

As the snow and ice of the winter season melt away so do the neutral colors. As much as we look forward to the warm weather spring brings, it also means new makeup trends to try out. This season is all about bright pops of color to play up your eyes.

Inspired by fiery sunsets and the warmth they bring to a clear spring evening, vivid eyeshadows in shades of fuchsia, orange, and neon yellow capture the warmth of the spring, giving your makeup a sunny accent. This whimsical makeup look has been deemed Cirque du Spring because it’s wild and crazy, an ode to the magical moments of the warmer season.

For the Eyes

Step 1: Start with a bright yellow shade. Using a small makeup brush, blend the color from the inner corner of your eye out to the middle of your eyelid and brush a thin line underneath your eye. We love Illamasqua in Marvel Yellow.

Step 2: Brush orange eyeshadow on the remaining portion of your eyelid to below your brow bone. We used Tangerine 18 by Makeup forever.

Step 3: Using a small, angular brush take a bright pink eyeshadow and create a wing, blending from the orange shadow to the outer corner of the eye. We used Neon pink 75 by Make Up For Ever.

Step 4: Using black pencil eyeliner, line your top and inner bottom lash line of your eye, and apply a couple coats of black mascara. We used Rimmel London Exaggerate eyeliner in Noir and Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara.

For the Lips and cheeks

Step 1: Use a large blush brush and apply a pink blush on your cheek bones, moving up slightly towards your temples. We used Cargo Amalfi blush.

Step 2: Use a pale but shiny lip color to complement your eyes, without overpowering your makeup. We used Benefit lipstick in Candy Store.

We’d love to see your version of the latest spring trends, post them on our Facebook fan page along with any other tips or ideas you might have for our blog, and don’t forget to comment!
