Kendra From “Beastly” Inspired Makeup Look

22 Mar

We’re suckers for a great love story. We recently watched “Beastly,” the retelling of “Beauty and the Beast” based on the book of the same name by Alex Flinn. Our first impression was WOW, we can’t help but love Alex Pettyfer, who played overly confident, extremely drool-worthy Kyle, and also Hunter, his beastly persona. After suppressing our oooo’s and ahhhh’s over Kyle, the arrival of Kendra, played by Mary Kate Olsen, surprised us. Most remember Mary Kate from the 90’s sitcom “Full House,” and we were delighted to see her play a less wholesome character.

While the portrayal of Kendra had us glaring at the screen, angry for turning Kyle into Hunter, we couldn’t help but love her saucy, witchy makeup look. And to celebrate our love of “Beastly,” we bring to you this dark, sultry makeup look inspired by Kendra’s magical, hypnotizing eyes.

The Steps

1. Using an eyeshadow brush, apply shimmery silver eyeshadow from your lash line to your eyebrow. We love Milani’s Backstage Basics.

2. Apply black eyeshadow to your eyelid. Using black gel eyeliner, paint three curved lines, feathering the strokes at the ends, each spaced a centimeter apart. The ideal effect is to mimic extended lashes.  We love Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.

3. Draw a thick line of eyeliner on your lower lash line with a small eyeliner brush, starting from the middle and working your way into your top lid eyeliner. Dust dark green eyeshadow over the eyeliner and the black eyeshadow on your lid for a natural, smooth effect. Trace your inner lash line with eyeliner as well. The dark green shadow is Make Up For Ever’s Diamond Green 310.

4. Carefully glue black fake eyelashes to your top lashes, and trace over with eyeliner for a natural look. Add a touch of mascara if you have light eyelashes. We love NYX’s Review false lashes and Lancôme’s Hypnôse Custom Volume Mascara.

5. Instead of a tattoo like Kendra, we’ve decided to bedazzle the look with teardrop-shaped stones in a crescent moon shape. You can purchase these craft stickers from any craft store.

We hope you enjoy this look as much as we do! Let us know what you think! Also, feel free to post your interpretation on our fan page, and don’t forget to Like Us!
