New Year’s Shimmer

17 Dec

With the year finally over and a new one beginning, it’s the perfect time to celebrate with New Year’s Shimmer. Inspired by sophisticated glasses of champagne and dazzling confetti, we’ve put together an elegant makeup look perfect for evening wear, cocktail parties, or a night on the town.

This makeup look is smoldering and sophisticated, yet iridescent and shimmery with bold gold and green colors. So, get ready to celebrate the coming of the 2011 with New Year’s Shimmer.

How to get the look:

1. Start with fresh, clean skin before applying the makeup look. Apply moisturizing cream to your face for smooth makeup application. For a long lasting effect, use a primer before applying your foundation.

2. Prep your skin with a natural foundation matching your skin tone, using a foundation brush for an even finish. Use a large powder brush to set your foundation with pressed powder, lightly dusting over your T-zone to mattify and conceal shine.

1. Use an eyeshadow base for long lasting color. Highlight your brow bone with a white/light beige shimmer eyeshadow, using a medium eyeshadow brush.

2. Dust shimmer gold colored eyeshadow on your eyelids, using a large eyeshadow brush to blend the color from your lash line to your eyebrow.

3. Using a blending shadow brush, blend a deep green eyeshadow into the crease and outer edge of your eyelid making a C shape.

1. Line your top lash line with black liquid eyeliner. To achieve a thin even line, apply with a small, angled eyeliner brush using small strokes. For the bottom eyeliner, apply the deep green eyeshadow to the outer corner of your eye, blending it halfway across your lash line and into the white shimmer eyeshadow.

2. To accent your eyelashes, apply black mascara to top and bottom lashes.

3. To define your brows, use a brow shadow similar to the color of brow hair for a naturally defined look. Apply using light stokes starting from the inside of the brow using an angled shadow brush.

The Cheeks

Apply pale pink blush using a blush brush to your cheek bones, blending towards the hairline, and then downwards to soften the edges.

The Lips

1. Fill in the lips with a light brown colored lipstick.

2. Brush on an iridescent lip gloss for an added touch.
